MEET ALYSSA
Born and raised on a sugar cane farm in the picturesque town of Maclean, Alyssa developed a deep connection with animals and the natural world from an early age. This bond became a foundation for her personal healing journey and ultimately inspired her passion for supporting others.
Alyssa's approach is informed not only by her professional qualifications including a bachelor’s degree in counselling and a qualification in Equine Assisted Therapy, but also by her lived experience. Alyssa has personally navigated mental health challenges, the complexities of divorce, and the demands of single parenting as a young adult. These experiences among others, have shaped her into a counsellor who leads with empathy, integrity, and deep understanding.
Drawing on the experience of working as a school counsellor and youth support worker in a special needs school, Alyssa brings a grounded, trauma-informed approach to her sessions. She believes in the power of relationship between humans, animals, and the land to foster healing, growth, and resilience. Alyssa is passionate about helping young people develop the resources they need to navigate life’s challenges and flourish in their own unique, meaningful ways.
